Matt For District Seven School Board

My name is Matt Cummings, and I am running to be your next District Seven School Board member here in Virginia Beach. I absolutely love our schools and am a proud Salem parent and hope that we can partner together over the next four years to build a stronger school system.
 

I bring over 13 years of educational experience, from teaching ESL in Shanghai, China, to serving as Vice President at a high-growth vocational school that stretched across 42 states and taught distribution center workers, retail workers, and formerly incarcerated individuals how to code. We helped people get jobs at places like Meta, Amazon, Google, JP Morgan, and CitiBank within as little of 6-9 months of training. 
 

I am also a proud parent of two children. My oldest just finished her time at Salem Middle and is going on to Tallwood Global Languages Academy, while my son will be in 7th grade at Salem Middle. My wife, who is a Marriage and Family Therapist, and I got married young at the tender age of 21 and 20 and we are each other's best friends in all we do from exploring nature to just living our best life
 

I am running because I believe we can do better for our teachers, our schools, and our community. I am tired of outside politics and book bans interfering with our educational goals. I am a proud American and believe that public education is a core component of our democracy and needs to be properly funded and respected as the driving factor of the future of our society.  As a parent, I have a direct investment in ensuring our schools are places that value learning and that our frontline workers are taken care of.
 

So come November, partner with me and let's get our schools back to business and ensure that we have a parent's voice on the School Board.
